"Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison" Hebrews 13:3a

Who are the Chaplains?

Rev. Roger and Sonny Swift have been the
Chaplains at Spokane County Jail since 1990 and
at Geiger Correctional Center since 2011.

             Who are the Board members?

Rev. Roger & Sonny Swift, Capt Ret. Don Manning,  Floyd Rhodes, Donna Scheidt, Clay Roy, Pastor Mark & Theresa Smith, Diane Lueders, Shayna Huff, Kerri Hendrix.

 What do you believe?

We believe the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, are the complete, inspired, infallible, authoritative word of God.

We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures.
We also believe that all who accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior are saved from eternal separation from God.

                                                                               How big is the need?

Every day on average there are 950 inmates at Spokane County Jail and at Geiger Correctional Center. At least 28,000 inmates were booked into the two facilities last year.  That is approximately 70 inmates per day. Many of these men and women are more open to the gospel in jail than at any other time in their lives.

How are you helping?

Chaplain Rev. Roger and Sonny Swift and 33 volunteers go weekly to minister to men and
women in the Spokane County Jail and Geiger Correctional Center.  In 2016, we provided 3,500 Bibles. Hundreds of personal Bible studies were given to the inmates as well. These Bible studies were turned in and graded by Steve Munter and Doug Fischer who both operate underneath the Chaplain.

 Are there any results?

In 2016, we had 704 inmates that responded to
the invitation to trust Christ as Savior.

We have had the privilege of baptizing a total of 1,074 men and women. In all of this time we
only have knowledge of one of the baptized inmates being re-incarcerated.

Are there any church services offered?

There are eight churches in the Spokane area who help in providing nine services every Sunday. Five of those services are held at the Spokane County Jail, the remaining services are
held at Geiger Correctional Center.

An inmate talking to Jesus 2000 years ago

Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."

Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
